Dr. Bustillo, MD a board certified reproductive endocrinologist since 1983, is currently the director of the Assisted Reproductive Technology program at the South Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Miami, FL. In 1983, as a member of the team at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, Dr. Bustillo achieved the first oocyte donation pregnancy and birth in the USA with a then novel technique called uterine lavage. She served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) from 1988 to 1996 and was SART president in 1994.
Dr. Bustillo is a founding member of the Society for the Advancement of Women’s Health Research and served as its Vice-President. Dr. Bustillo has been a long-time active member of RESOLVE and was a director on its National Board. She is active in teaching, in research/publishing and is an ad hoc reviewer for various journals in her specialty. Dr. Bustillo is a past member of the Editorial Board of the ASRM journal Fertility and Sterility. She continues to serve on several committees of the ASRM.
